Cost-Effective Flexible CSRR-Based Sensor for Noninvasive Measurement of Permittivity of Biomaterials

A novel, cost-effective, flexible microwave sensor is proposed to facilitate point-of-care testing (POCT) methods for medical diagnosis. The based on the complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) accurately measure permittivity of biomaterials over a wide range frequencies. This ability can be used characterize various materials under test (MUT) such as blood, saliva, tissue samples, etc. flexibility means that it when accessibility sample has technical difficulties, curved surfaces. Firstly, optimized structure and coupling readout transmission line are evaluated using finite element method (FEM) simulations. Then, prototype fabricated thin polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate biocompatible economical polymer, aluminium carefully chosen fabrication CSRR parts. tested compared conventional rigid sensors. withstood different bending positions well, also showed an improvement in results MUT.
